Travelex Travelers' Insurance FAQ
Q: Why should I purchase the Travel Plus Plan while I'm enrolled in other insurance plans?
A: Most insurance policies DO NOT cover medical expenses overseas. With the Travel Plus Plan, everybody on the plan is eligible for medical benefits with emergency evacuation and repatriation.
Q: Can I just purchase a plan with medical coverage?
A: Certainly. The plan that provides medical benefits, including trip delay, itinerary change, baggage lost and delay, 24-hour and common carrier accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), rental vehicle damage and travel assistance starts at $29, depending on your age.
Q: What is optional flight coverage?
A: It is actually an optional life insurance policy. There are altogether three different levels of protection: $300,000, $500,000 and 1,000,000.
Q: Since children 15 and under receive the plan benefits free of charge, do I need to list them on the enrollment form?
A: Yes, their names should be listed according to their passports. That means, you should put your adopted child's Chinese name on the form before he/she obtained an American passport.
Q: How is the insurance plan cost determined?
A: The cost is determined by the trip cost (travel expenses, including plane tickets, hotel accommodations, etc) and age. If you do not care much about trip cancellation and interruption, you can choose a level of the trip cost that you are comfortable to purchase. However, please note that Lotus Travel recommends travelers to select a full trip cost coverage.
Q: How do I calculate my total trip cost?
Your trip cost includes International airfare, tours, hotel accommodations, air and ground transportation, etc, within your destination city/country that you have reserved through Lotus Travel and other travel service providers.
Q: What should I do if I need to cancel my trip?
A: Please make sure you call the Travelex Insurance Company and your travel providers 72 hours ahead of time for any cancellations, changes and assistance.
Q: How can I file for a medical claim?
A: Besides completing the insurance claim form, please also submit the doctor's statements and clinical receipts.
Q: When will I be eligible for baggage lost and delay claims?
A: You will be eligible for claims if your baggage delayed at least 24 hours or got lost completely. Please retain receipts of purchased supplies, such as clothing, toothbrushes, towels, etc to submit along with the claim form.
